It is well-known property taxes will increase by 2.5 per cent, the smallest increase in almost half a decade. With the rising cost of living and inflation, it’s important that our residents aren’t overburdened - taxpayers are not an infinite source of revenue.

I know some federal public service employees return to their offices this week, and I do empathise with their situation. Personally, I enjoy "going" to work (I’m less productive at home), but I hope the federal government rethinks its blanket hybrid work policy.

At a December Council meeting, most of my fellow Councillors and I voted to request data from this year’s declarations, most notably the cost of running the program versus the amount of funds that are ultimately generated for the affordable housing initiatives as intended, after subtracting the costs.

I am so impressed by the efficiency of our snow clearing crews over the weekend who worked practically non-stop since the snow started falling Friday. Through my own observations and comments received, our community’s major roads and collector streets were kept reasonably clear, with a few exceptions.
