Barrhaven Legion Launches Its Veteran Memorial Banner Program
The Barrhaven Legion recently launched its Veteran Memorial Banner Program↗ to honour and memorialize Veterans (deceased, retired or still serving members of the military or RCMP) who willingly serve or served or gave their lives in service to Canada and who continue to stand for our freedom.
Thirty Veteran Memorial Banners will be mounted in mid-October 2026, and annually thereafter, and will be removed mid-November, on poles from the corner of Malvern Drive and Sherway Drive, past John McCrae High School, and as far as Fable Street. This is an excellent location to honour our Veterans as the Veteran Memorial Banners will be displayed in front of the Remembrance Memorial at John McCrae High School during the month preceding Remembrance Day, and will be visible for hundreds of students at local schools and visitors to Walter Baker.
The purchase of a Veteran Memorial Banner↗ will include the production of the banner and all costs associated with mounting and removal of the banner. After the Veteran Memorial Banner is removed, Branch 641 will clean and return the banner to the Veteran/family. Included with the purchase of the Veteran Memorial Banner, the photo of the Veteran and their military service will be added to a library on our website which will provide an archive/history of the program.
The cost to purchase a Veteran Memorial Banner↗ is $250, which includes the production, installation and take down of the banner after one month, cleaning and return to the family. The banner can be reused in future years for a nominal fee of $100 which covers the installation and removal.

To purchase a Veteran Memorial Banner, please complete the online Application Form↗ (or download, print and complete the paper application and leave it at the Branch at 3500 Fallowfield Road along with a good quality head and shoulders photo of the Veteran) and follow the instructions.
The Barrhaven Legion team will review your application and confirm that the submitted photo meets the quality requirements. Once everything has been approved, they will contact you with payment instructions.
