You’re invited to the Council on Aging of Ottawa’s Annual Spring Luncheon, celebrating their 50th anniversary.
This year’s keynote speaker is the Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, the 26th Governor General of Canada. A leading figure in Canada’s cultural and public life, Adrienne Clarkson has seen life from many perspectives.
As a refugee from Hong Kong, a woman, a distinguished journalist, a champion of the arts, and as Governor General, she has always elicited meaningful conversation and enlightenment from those she encounters. Now, at age 86, and currently the Honorary Chair of the National Institute on Ageing, Madame Clarkson brings her rich background, wisdom, perspective, and lived experience as she shares her thoughts on aging.
Older adults play a vital role in Ottawa’s social and economic fabric, with those 65+ now representing 17% of the city’s population. Their contributions—whether through volunteerism, caregiving, or economic activity—are significant. At the same time, many face challenges such as disabilities, social isolation, and financial hardship.
For 50 years, the Council on Aging of Ottawa has been advocating for a more age-friendly city, and this luncheon is an opportunity to reflect on our progress and future.
The event begins with a networking reception, cash bar, and silent auction at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch and the formal program at noon. Tickets and further details, including costs, are available online.
