Stay Off The Ice
We strongly urge residents to stay off waterways during fluctuating temperatures, as ice conditions can change rapidly and without warning.
The Ottawa Fire Services – Ice Rescue Teams safely rescued a dog and a resident, on Saturday February 28, 2026, after both fell through the ice on the Rideau River.

Committee approves new Access By-law
The Public Works and Infrastructure Committee today approved a new Access By-law to help regulate the construction, use and maintenance of private approaches and to clarify the work property owners can undertake on their driveaway or laneway that crosses into the City’s right of way.
