Starting in 2025, the maximum idling times for vehicles in Ottawa are changing to help make Ottawa’s air cleaner.

Idling times for vehicles on public and private property are set in the City’s Idling Control By-law.

The Community Services Committee today approved its portions of Draft Budget 2025↗, which represents a $1.5-billion total operating budget and capital investments totaling $159.6 million. This budget invests in housing options for all residents and aims to improve access to mental health and addiction support, social services, child care, arts and culture, and parks and recreation. 

The final phase of the graduated approach to the three-item garbage limit will begin on Monday, December 2. This means, any garbage above the three-item garbage limit must be placed in a City of Ottawa yellow bag.
