The City of Ottawa is modernizing its paid parking system with the introduction of new Pay-by-Plate parking kiosks at on-street parking spaces and City-managed parking lots and garages. The new kiosks will provide customers with an easier and more convenient parking experience.
When using a new Pay-by-Plate kiosk, parking payments are linked directly to a vehicle's licence plate and you no longer need to return to your vehicle to display a receipt. The new kiosks also offer more ways to pay. In addition to coins, customers can use debit tap, credit tap, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The PayByPhone app will continue to be available.
Installation of approximately 660 new kiosks will begin on Monday, November 2 and will take up to five months to complete. The rollout will start with City-managed parking lots. Additional locations across Ottawa will be upgraded through spring 2027.
Parking rates and hours of operation are not changing as part of this initiative.
