Colonel By Day schedule changes

The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes and City service impacts for the Colonel By Day holiday on Monday, August 3.

Taking transit? On Colonel By Day and every Saturday, Sunday and statutory holiday, take advantage of the 2-for-1 DayPass, where two customers, 19 years of age or older, can ride all day for $12.25. Purchase the 2-for-1 DayPass at any ticket machine or from your bus operator.

Until August 31, 2026, pre-teens and youth age 11 – 18 ride for free on OC Transpo buses, trains, and Para Transpo. Kids 10 and under can ride for free every day on OC Transpo buses, the O-Train and Para Transpo. 

Client Service Centres

  • The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only. Please visit ottawa.ca/311↗ to submit a service request online

  • ServiceOttawa’s Client Services counters and phone lines will be closed. Counters are located at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive), and Orléans (255 Centrum Boulevard).

  • The Provincial Court and Administrative Penalty System Hearing area located at Mary Pitt Centre (100 Constellation Drive) and the supporting counter and phone lines will be closed.

  • The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue will be closed.

  • The City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter Clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.

  • The City of Ottawa Archives at the James Bartleman Centre will be closed from Saturday, August 1 to Monday, August 3. 

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection

  • There will be no curbside green bin↗, recycling↗, garbage↗ or bulky item↗ collection on Monday, August 3. Pick up will take place on Tuesday, August 4. In addition, the collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

  • Residents can sign up to receive collection reminders and service alerts by email or phone call on our Collection Calendar page↗.

  • Multi-residential garbage containers and bulky items will be collected on their regular scheduled day, including on the holiday. Collections of multi-residential recycling containers and green bins will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

  • The Trail Waste Facility Landfill↗ will be open on Monday, August 3 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Parking

  • All City parking regulations apply.

Transit Services

OC Transpo 

  • OC Transpo bus service will run on a Saturday schedule, with enhanced service on routes 8, 25, 63, and 74 during peak periods. Route 13 will operate with a normal weekday schedule.

  • Overnight service on Routes N39, N45, N61, N75, and N105 will be extended to start at 1 am.

  • O-Train Line 1 will run on a reduced weekday schedule from 5 am to 1 am, with peak period service reduced to every 6 minutes.

  • O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will run a normal weekday schedule from 6 am to 12 am.

  • Rural Shopper Route 301 will run.

  • The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open on Monday, August 3 from 10 am to 6 pm.

  • The OC Transpo Lost and Found at St-Laurent Station will be closed. Customers can submit an inquiry about a lost item at octranspo.com/lostandfound↗.

  • Use the Travel Planner↗ or Transit↗, the recommended app for OC Transpo customers, to plan your trip. 

Para Transpo 

  • Regular bookings or recurring trips for Monday, August 3 are automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Colonel By Day starting Monday, July 27 by calling 613-560-5000 or using My Para Transpo↗.

  • The reservations line will be open from 7 am to 5 pm.

  • The trip information and cancellation line will be open from 6 am to 12:30 am.

  • Para Transpo customers can also text 57272 to connect with customer service representatives from 6 am to 9 pm for trip information or cancellations. Standard rates apply.

  • The Taxi Coupon line will be closed.

Recreation and cultural services

  • Many community, cultural and recreation facilities will have altered hours, closures and changes to drop-in schedules. Please check the facility pages↗ for details.

  • Ben Franklin Place will be closed.

  • Beaches and outdoor pools↗ will be open with lifeguards on duty. Splash pads and wading pools will also be open.

  • City-operated museums, galleries and Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed.

  • Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe remains closed.

All four Employment and Social Services offices will be closed:
